Written by Luis Montes Updated On January 15, 2026

In the previous post, we showed you the location of the grease fittings on the Cat 314E excavator and the proper way to service them.
Next, a straightforward task: replacing the cab air filter on the CAT 314E excavator.
We also have a video version on the Tekamo HD YouTube channel. Check it out.

Remove, Compare, Install

The location of the cab air filter varies among brands. Some have it inside the cab, behind the seat, or underneath it, such as on the John Deere 85G excavator. Our article “500 Hour Service Interval Guide for a John Deere 85G Excavator – Part 5” covers how to change the cab air filter for that particular piece of equipment.
The cabin air filter on the Cat 314E is located in a lockable compartment on the left-hand side, next to the cabin door.

To remove the filter, first pull and then lift it.

We always like to double-check we’ve got the right filter by comparing it with the old one, especially when getting an aftermarket filter. Check their lengths, outside, inside, and ends.
