In the previous post, we covered how to change the engine air filters on the John Deere 650K dozer.

In this brief post, we’ll show you how to replace the air conditioner and cab recirculation air filters.

On the Tekamo HD YouTube channel, you can watch Keith, an expert heavy equipment mechanic, do this task.

Change the Air Conditioner Filter

The fresh air filter is in a compartment behind the cab, underneath the backside of the roof. You’ll need a ladder to reach the panel (the top of the roof is 9 ft 1 in height).

Undo the two wing nuts to the left to open the compartment. Although the panel will stay there by itself, hold it with one hand as you unscrew the wing nuts to avoid it from crashing down, which could damage the bolts that hold the panel or deform the bolt holes.

The old air filter will fall by itself.

To install the new filter, pop it inside and hold it as you push up the panel. The panel will hold the filter. Do the wing nuts back on, and you’re done.

Change the Cab Recirculation Air Filter

The John Deere 650K cab recirculation air filter is behind the operator’s seat in the top back corner.

There’s a tab in the middle to remove the filter. Pull it toward the front of the machine. If it doesn’t work, the filter has tabs attached at each end, which you can pull downward to take out the filter.

Leverage Tekamo HD’s extensive network of experienced heavy-duty mechanics and advanced fleet management solutions to improve your heavy equipment maintenance, even in rural and remote areas.

To install the new filter, pull the middle tab to get it out of the way as you slide the filter into the slot. Once inside, push the tab cab to keep the filter in place.
