You can get straight at it
Short version: a right angle impact gives you one fixed angle, usually on a smaller drive. This gives you a 3/4" drive you can aim, with 738 ft-lb where a straight gun has no approach at all. If you can reach the fastener straight on, buy the straight one. It hits harder. This is the tool for everything else.

Before You Order
No — and the difference matters. A right angle impact has a fixed 90° head, usually on a 3/8" or 1/2" drive. This has a head that articulates up to 120°, so you set the angle to suit the fastener, on a full 3/4" drive. If your job is always square-on in a narrow gap, a right angle tool may suit you better. If the bolt is buried and the approach angle keeps changing, this is the one.
When there’s no straight line to the fastener — behind suspension components, crossmembers, frames and similar obstructions. A straight gun hits harder, so if you can get at the bolt head-on, use it. This tool exists for everything you can’t.
Any 3/4" drive impact socket. Use impact-rated sockets — chrome hand sockets aren't built for this kind of torque.
