    Ultra-Compact 3/8

Ultra-Compact 3/8" Ratchet for Tight Access

The nepros NBRC390 is built around a compact oval head that’s designed for real-world clearance problems—when a standard head won’t physically fit. It uses a 90-tooth gear with a 4° feed angle for small swing-room work, and it’s made in Japan. The built-in union mechanism helps keep the socket from coming off unless the push button is pressed, so you can work overhead or deep in a bay with more confidence.

    Why the Compact Head Matters

    • Fits where standard ratchet heads won’t (tight pockets, brackets, crowded engine bays)

    • Keeps the working end closer to the fastener for better control

    • Small swing arc (4°) helps when you can only “click” a little at a time

    Socket Retention (Union Mechanism)

    • Union mechanism helps prevent the socket from accidentally coming off the ratchet
    • Socket releases when the push button is pressed

    • Useful for overhead work, vertical fasteners, and deep access where dropped sockets cost time

    How to Use (3 Steps)

    1. Seat the socket fully onto the square drive until it locks.
    2. Keep the head square on the fastener (especially in tight access).
    3. Press the push button only when you’re ready to remove the socket.

    Notes for Pros

    • A compact head is about access first—pair it with quality 6-point sockets for the best grip.

    • For stubborn fasteners, break loose with the best leverage you can get, then use the compact head ratchet to spin quickly in the tight zone.
